AI for marketers · 12 min

AI is an intern, not a source

In this lesson

  • Use AI to explore, not to certify facts

Treat AI like a fast intern: great at outlines, terrible as a footnote. If it states a number, a law, or a “study,” you must verify it or delete it.

Prompt for questions, not a finished plan

A bad first prompt: “Write Northfield’s full marketing plan and invent any numbers you need.” A good first prompt: “List research questions a used-car dealer in Frederick should answer this month. Separate what needs a public source from what only Dana can know (true appointment count, close rate, which cars sit). Flag every statistic.” You will paste the raw answer into the assignment. If the model hands you a $3,000 split or RSA headlines, that is it volunteering for later courses — cut those rows. Your job this week is to catch the intern before the intern becomes the source.

Fabricated metrics are a critical failure in this Academy — and in real client work.
