The thumb zone is the desk on Saturday

Most conversion paths on a phone are a thumb, not a mouse. The thumb zone is the bottom third of the screen — where a one-handed shopper can hit a target without shifting grip. A click-to-call that lives only in a 12-pixel footer link, or only in the header they have already scrolled past, is not a mobile CTA. A sticky bar that stays in the thumb zone while they read is. The bar must be a real tel: link to a number a human answers, not a form that opens a novel. If you cannot say who picks up and during which hours, you do not have a call path.

Hours belong on the tap target

A sticky “Call now” that hides Saturday hours is how you collect angry voicemails and no-shows. Put the hours on the same chip as the number: Call (301) … · Sat 9–5. If the shop is closed, the bar should say so and offer the next open slot or a text. Do not make them open a separate Hours page to learn they just missed Dana. Tap targets need to be large enough to hit (about 44px). A pale phone icon in the corner with no number visible is decoration.

Cedar & Stone HVAC

Cedar & Stone HVAC is a 14-person heating and cooling company in Hagerstown, Maryland. Owner Priya Shah needs 40 booked service or estimate appointments next month. She has a $4,000 marketing budget, a Google Business Profile, a slow five-page website, and two techs who can take overflow. Summer is ending; she wants fall maintenance plans and emergency-heat calls, not vanity traffic. Five slow pages: Home, About, Services, Financing, Contact. The contact form asks for name, email, phone, address, and a long comment. No click-to-call sticky bar. No online scheduler. The “Services” page lists 14 items with no prices and no next step. Last month: 22 booked appointments, 9 no-shows, 61 website form fills (many “how much does a new AC cost?”), 14 Google Business Profile calls that went to a shared cell with no logging. Nobody can say which form became a job. Emergency-heat callers will not hunt a Contact page. The missing sticky bar is a path break.

Priya’s Google Business Profile calls already dump onto a shared cell with no logging. A sticky bar that rings the same unlogged phone is not a win. Name who answers, the hours on the chip, and that the call must be logged. Do not invent call-tracking numbers you have not set up.

Write the exact sticky-bar copy for Cedar & Stone (number placeholder, hours, emergency vs $129 tune-up). State thumb-zone placement (bottom) and what happens if they tap after hours. One sentence on why the current five-page site — no sticky bar, Contact buried — loses the heat call.
