Analytics diagnosis: events, UTMs, and the memo

Analytics diagnosis: events, UTMs, and the memo

Instrument a dealer and a service shop, then diagnose from reports — not from vanity slogans.

You will build a two-column event map for Northfield Motors and Cedar & Stone HVAC, then write a diagnosis memo: symptom, five labeled hypotheses, and the one GA4/GTM/UTM/call-tracking fix you would ship this week. Skillshop names the buttons. The grade is the map and the memo.

8 hours · Intermediate · Week 10

Module 1

Event model, debug, and UTM discipline

Name the money events for a lot and a shop, catch a lying generate_lead, and tag traffic so a second buyer can read it.

Module 2

Reports, booking truth, and the diagnosis memo

Open the right tables when CTR jumps, separate a form fill from a show, and write five labeled hypotheses plus one shippable fix.

Google

Google Skillshop

Official free Google Ads, Analytics, and Google Business Profile training.

Why finish it: Skillshop is the language buyers use in the account. Completing Search and Analytics certifications means you can name match types, conversions, and GA4 events without guessing — then our briefs make you apply that to Northfield. A badge without the worksheet is still just a badge.

Time: About 4–8 hours. Do Search first, then Analytics.

What to upload: Google Ads Search + Analytics certificates

Google

Think with Google

Free research, consumer insights, and measurement articles.

Why finish it: Think with Google trains you to ask better measurement questions. Read two recent pieces on local or auto journeys, then label every claim observed / inferred / unknown in Foundations. Do not paste their charts into a client deck as if they were Dana’s numbers.

Time: 60–90 minutes.

What to upload: No badge — attach two article titles + takeaways
